NISSAN EUROPE REPORTS JULY SALES
In the seven month period from January to July 2003, Nissan Europe sold 313,200 units, 7.6% up from last year, in the context of a total industry volume decline of 2.1%.
HIGHLIGHTS BY COUNTRY
§ Nissan in France sold 4,492 units in July, registering a 32.62% increase compared to last year. In the seven month period from January to July 2003, Nissan sold 26,940 units in France, up by 28.16% compared to last year.
§ In Germany Nissan sold 4,807 units in July, representing an increase of 12.92% compared to last year. In the seven month period from January to July 2003, Nissan sold 38,433 units in Germany, 5.61% up from last year.
§ In Italy, Nissan sold 7,893 units in July, up 54.7% against last year. In the seven month period from January to July 2003, Nissan sales in Italy rose to 45,156 units, up by 16.34% compared to last year.
§ Nissan in Spain sold 5,708 unitsin July, down by 4.21% compared to last year. In the seven month period from January to July 2003, Nissan sales in Spain rose to 34,939 units up by 2.15% compared to last year.
§ In the UK Nissan sold 7,690 units, a slight decrease of 3.94% compared to last year. In the seven month period from January to July 2003, Nissans UK sales rose to 64,741 units, up 1.88% compared to last year.
MODEL HIGHLIGHTS
§ The Micra was Nissans best-selling European model with a total of 15,683 unit sales in July. In the seven month period from January to July 2003, total Micra sales reached 104,591 units, up by 59.6% compared to last year.
§ X‑TRAIL sales increased by 50.9% in July against the same month last year to 4,760 units. Year-to-date sales rose 47.1% to 28,387 units.
§ Sales of the Nissan Pickup increased by 28.8% in July compared to the same month last year to 3,263 units. Since the beginning of the year, Nissan has sold 21,154 Pickup, a 35.8% increase against 2002.
Nissan employs around 12,000 people in its European design, research and development, production, logistics, and sales and marketing operations. Last year, the company produced a total of 382,638 vehicles in its Spanish and British plants and sold 474,000 vehicles in Europe. Nissan Europes Head Office is based in Trappes (Paris), France.
