THE INDUSTRIAL PLAN FOR THE FUTURE OF AVILA PLANT RECEIVES PUBLIC SUPPORT FROM SPANISH ADMINISTRATION
The first stage in the competitiveness and improvement process is marked with a visit of the Avila Plant from the Minister for Industry, Miguel Sebastian, and the Castilla y León Government Vice President.
Avila (June 18, 2010) - The Nissan plant in Avila, Spain received a visit today from the Spanish Minister of Industry, Tourism and Trade, Miguel Sebastian, and the Vice President for Economy and Employment of the Castilla y León Government, Tomas Villanueva, to celebrate the factory's competitiveness agreements reached between government, unions and Nissan.
In the words of Managing Director of Nissan in Spain Industrial Operations, Ryouji Kurosawa, "The signing of the improvement process agreements is the best example of collaboration between governments, social partners and Nissan, and has enabled us to achieve an Industrial Plan which guarantees work for the plant for the coming years and an innovative collective agreement in Spain in terms of flexibility".
Kurosawa added: "The collective agreement we have signed is key for us to improve the competitiveness of the factory and to put in place the levels of excellence necessary to compete with other Renault-Nissan Alliance plants for the allocation of new vehicles".
Mr Kurosawa stressed that "In today's volatile economic climate, with market fluctuations as they are, the implementation of the flexibility agreement, pioneer in the automotive sector in Spain, will ensure the plant can respond to market changes taking full advantage of production peaks and minimizing the consequences of falling demand."
The competitive structure and the decisive support of National and Regional Government have enabled Nissan to establish the Industrial Plan which gives clearer visibility for a positive future with Avila as Nissan's "Mother Plant" for light commercial vehicles".
The Managing Director of Nissan in Spain Industrial Operations thanked the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade, the Castilla y León Government, and unions and all employees for their support in achieving this agreement and looks forward to future good news and success from the plant and its workforce.
