Nissan launches new Qashqai: Europe’s best-selling crossover gets special Black Edition

  • Black alloys, door guards and exterior styling plates take Qashqai further into the premium sector
  • Based on flagship Tekna grade, with desirable crossover styling upgrades
  • Limited production run ensures exclusivity and is on sale now

The Nissan Qashqai Black Edition sets a new standard for sophisticated design in the crossover segment, with a range of styling enhancements to elevate it further into the premium sector.

Based on the flagship Tekna trim level, a number of contemporary styling enhancements have been added to the specification. These include smart 19-inch ‘Ibiscus’ black alloy wheels, signature black door sill entry guards, plus silver front and rear styling plates. The car also comes with a Panoramic Roof and one-touch interior sun shade, making it the only Qashqai in the range to offer that premium feature as standard.

Two exterior paint colours are available – Pearlescent Black metallic for a striking all-black look, or Pearl White for a stand-out contrast.

The Qashqai Black Edition is available with two efficient and refined diesel engines from the Nissan range – the 1.5-litre dCi 110 and the 1.6-litre dCi 130. Customers also have a choice of transmissions; the six-speed manual is available with either front-wheel drive or four-wheel drive, while the X-Tronic automatic transmission is front-wheel drive only.

Nissan’s suite of advanced safety and driver assist systems – collectively known as Nissan Safety Shield – are included on the car as standard. These include Lane Departure Warning, High Beam Assist, Traffic Signal Recognition, Forward Emergency Braking, Blind Spot Warning, Moving Object Detection and Driver Attention Alert.

Additional specification includes full black leather upholstery, Park Assist, bi-LED headlights and the state-of-the-art NissanConnect infotainment system. Based around an integrated seven-inch high-resolution touch-screen, it includes DAB digital radio and satellite navigation. Nissan’s pioneering 360º Around View Monitor – to help with low-speed manoeuvres – is also fitted as standard.

Production of the Qashqai Black Edition will be limited to 3,360 units across Europe, to ensure exclusivity. Its launch builds on Nissan’s desire to develop more sophisticated versions of its crossovers, as previewed by the Qashqai Premium Concept and X-Trail Premium Concept unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show last March.

The multi-award-winning Qashqai’s impressive quality, styling and innovative technologies continue to make it the best-selling crossover in Europe. Since production began in 2013, a new Qashqai has been built every 62 seconds, or 58 per hour, at the plant in Sunderland, UK. In September 2015 the Nissan Qashqai became the fastest ever UK-built vehicle to smash the half million production mark. To date, almost 750,000 second-generation Qashqais have been built.
