NISSAN PLANT IN ST.PETERSBURG TO START SECOND SHIFT
St Petersburg, 1 June 2010- Today the Nissan factory in St.Petersburg (Nissan Manufacturing RUS) launched a second shift.
The company made the decision to increase production output at its factory in St.Petersburg (Russia) following gradual recovery of Russian market and growth of customer demand.
In addition to the existing 750 people working on one shift another 750 workers were hired. The hiring process started in February 2010 and "on-job" training was provided to all newcomers. During four months the staff of the second shift went through special skills training and studied the Nissan Production Way principles.
With the launch of second shift Nissan will be able to double the current production volume in St.Petersburg allowing to produce up to 30 000 - 35 000 cars per year in case of sufficient demand from the market.
