COMPLETING THE LCV STORY

Improvements across the range keep Nissan's Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV) models at the top of their game

  • Versatile and expansive range
  • From Pick-ups and compact vans to heavy trucks
  • Euro 5 and EEV compliant engines across the range
  • Lower running costs thanks to:
  • Improved fuel economy
  • Extended service intervals
  • Lower emissions
  • Innovative equipment upgrades and options
  • Built in Spain for Europe

At the same time as launching NV400 and introducing a new engine to the NV200 and Evalia ranges, Nissan has made a series of important changes to other models in its comprehensive LCV offering.

The revisions underline how seriously Nissan is taking the LCV market and also reinforce the company's policy of constant enhancements designed to make its vans and trucks even more appealing, practical and cost effective to its customers.

Improved performance, lower fuel consumption and emissions, reduced running costs, more equipment, clever technology... are central themes running through the entire Nissan LCV range.

Primastar

Nissan's medium-sized van, slotting between NV200 and NV400, is a collaboration with Alliance partner Renault. The latest version was launched in June 2010 and focused on improvements to comfort and convenience. A new automatic climate control was offered along with Bluetooth connectivity for mobile phone. A diesel particulate filter (DPF) was added to reduce emissions and service intervals were extended.

For 2011, Primastar is powered by a 2.0-litre dCi diesel engine driving the front wheels. The fully Euro 5 compliant engine develops 90HP (66Kw) and 115HP (84Kw) and healthy torque figures of 260Nm and 300Nm respectively.

A modern and innovative van, Primastar has a large cargo area with payloads of up to 1285 kg. Primastar is available as a passenger-carrying combi as well as a panel van. Primastar is built in Barcelona where it is also badged as the Renault Trafic and Opel Vivaro.

Cabstar

Nissan's tough and versatile Cabstar, which is built in Spain, comes in a wide variety of versions including box vans, tippers and dropside trucks with single cab and double cab offerings and single or twin rear wheels. It is available in three wheelbases lengths with GVW between 2.8-4.5T and best in class payloads of up to 2,760 kg.

The 2.5 and 3.0-litre four-cylinder 16 valve direct injection turbo diesel engines - all now Euro 5 compliant and fully prepared to operate with up to 7% of FAME[1] content on fuel (B7) - have been improved for 2011 with power outputs increasing to 122HP from 110HP and 136HP from 130HP for the smaller versions of the engine. Torque figures remain unchanged at 250Nm and 270Nm respectively. The 3.0-litre produces 150HP and 350Nm and is EEV (Enhanced Environmentally Friendly Vehicle) compliant

All Cabstar engines now have a dual regeneration DPF as standard: as well as automatic regeneration, operators can perform the system manually if they are unable to meet the conditions required for automatic mode -running the vehicle at 60km/h for 30 minutes.

Other changes to the vehicle include a new maintenance-free prop shaft and larger clutch, a fuel cooling system and revised exhaust. A limited slip differential is also now available. Visual changes include a new front bumper and revised badging while the cabin benefits from enhanced noise dampening and a revised ventilation system. New option packs provide cost effective equipment upgrades to suit specific requirements.

Service intervals have been increased to 40,000kms for YD and are aided by a new oil change supervisor. The OCS checks the quality of the engine oil and displays service information to the driver via the vehicle's dashboard display.

Changes to the final drive and better efficiency on YD engine have resulted in fuel consumption improvements up to 8% for YD. These low running costs in addition to overall ease of driving make Cabstar a firm favourite with small and medium sized companies and independent operators looking for practical, reliable and versatile transport.

Despite the vehicle's compact overall dimensions its cargo capacity is among the best in class, while the roomy cabin and excellent forward visibility make it easy to manoeuvre. Cabstar has a host of features or options more usually found in passenger cars.

Easy Hill Start (EHS) is a practical safety feature that helps prevent roll back on hill starts. Cabstar now has the option of the highly effective yet highly affordable Nissan Connect touch screen satellite navigation and communication system as well as keyless entry, electric windows and air conditioning,

The Double-DIN unit features a fully integrated 5-inch touch screen mounted high in the middle of the dashboard with easy to use and intuitive control switches. The navigation system uses clear street mapping rather than the more basic turn-by-turn guides of cheaper systems, and can be programmed in any of nine languages. The maps, which can easily be updated via SD card, cover Western Europe, Eastern Europe and Russia.

The system also incorporates TMC (Traffic Message Channel), Bluetooth telephone connectivity and aux-In and USB slots, allowing music held on a memory stick or an MP3/iPod to be played through Cabstar's sound system.

The Nissan Bluetooth Hands-free Phone System allows the drivers to keep their hands on the wheel while driving. The system mutes the vehicle's audio system during phone conversations.

Atleon

The biggest truck offered by Nissan in Europe, Atleon is one of the most versatile vehicles on the road. Popular with conversion specialists, the Spanish-built Atleon, can be adapted to suit almost any requirement.

Stylish, and with a strong Nissan identity, Atleon is available in a wide variety of lengths - from 5390mm to 7920mm - with GVW ranging from 3.5T to 8T. Two four-cylinder common rail turbodiesel engine options are available, a 3.0-litre with 150PS and 350Nm and a 4.5-litre developing 185PS and 700Nm of torque. Both are Euro 5 compliant and fully prepared to operate with up to 7% of FAME content on fuel (B7). The 3.0-litre ZD engine is also EEV compliant..

For 2011 most of the changes have been made to the versions powered by the 3.0-litre Nissan ZD engine. Like Cabstar, a dual regeneration DPF is now standard, the system allowing drivers to operate the system manually when it better suit their timetable. Major service intervals remain at 30,000 kms and changes have been made to the final drive ratio to the benefit of fuel economy -fuel consumption improvement can reach up to 7,8 percent.

Navara

Europe's best selling pick-up, Navara brings passenger car comfort and enhanced driving dynamics to the LCV market. Its robust ladder frame chassis and switchable four-wheel drive system - complete with a low ratio transfer box - makes Navara ideally suited to industries such as construction where grip is required under all conditions.

Power options include a technically advanced 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine developing 231PS and 550NM of torque, while the popular 2.5-litre dCi diesel has recently undergone significant upgrades.

The changes include a new more efficient direct injection system, while a new cylinder head with parallel ports increases the swirl efficiency of the combustion process, smoothing the intake and exhaust flow. A variable nozzle turbo (VNT) with electric control rather than the previous hydraulic system for quicker responses, has also been adopted.

These improvements not only raise power, but also lower fuel consumption and emissions. Emissions are also reduced thanks to the fitment of a by-pass valve in the Exhaust Gas Recycling (EGR) cooling system. The bypass valve allows the EGR system to warm up more quickly from a cold start, cutting emissions of hydrocarbons and soot still further. The overall result is a useful 11 percent rise in both power and torque to keep the engine at the top of the class. Power rises by 19  to 190 PS (140 kW) while torque increases by a healthy 47 Nm to 450 Nm.

Other recent improvements include additional active and passive safety features, including the availability of Electronic Stability Programme (ESP); as well as new equipment including the availability of a state-of-the-art touch-screen satellite navigation system, a premium Bose sound system and a rear view camera. Enhanced interior quality and a number of styling changes help keep Navara looking sharp.
