Firefighters will be jealous when they see their NÜrburgring colleagues' new vehicle. A Nissan GT-R was redesigned so that it can be used for emergency calls at Nürburgring's Nordschleife. The 357kW/486 HP strong super sports car equipped with a rotating beacon and a fire extinguishing system with water and fire retardant foam will now be used on the circuit when a crashed car catches fire. The GT-R Nürburgring rapid response service vehicle will be presented by Michael Bierdümpfl, Director of Communication at Nissan Center Europe GmbH, to Dr. Walter Kafitz, Managing Director of Nürburgring GmbH, on Friday, August 14th.

When hundreds of amateur drivers take on the rollercoaster circuit in theEifelregion during public test drives, mistakes and the resulting crash scenarios are a given. From time to time, spilt gasoline catches on fire on the hot exhaust pipes. That is why rescue units at the Nordschleife, which is around 20 km long, will be glad when they no longer have to use bulky fire trucks but have 's fastest rescue vehicle right at their fingertips.

They will be using a redesigned GT-R - a present by the Japanese carmaker to the Nürburgring operator as a thank you for the excellent collaboration in developing the GT-R. The car was redesigned for its new use by M&M Automotive, the Bonn-based specialist for car development and motor sports remodels. The two standard backseats were taken out and replaced with a 50-liter water tank, which was secured with a chrome-molybdenum roll cage. There is a medium-pressure extinguisher system (20 bars) as well as a winding device for the hose. The only difference between this GT-R and one straight from the factory is the additional radio system, the Recaro sports seats and the roll bar. With a foam reach of around 18 meters and a 20-meter hose, the rescue units will be able to fight fire for around two minutes on one tank.

The GT-R Nürburgring rapid response service vehicle can now be seen at the race track entrance so that the rescue units, who have been trained on a special course to be able to handle the high-performance GT-R, will be able to respond quickly. Despite the additional weight of around 200 kilograms, the GT-R Nürburgring rapid response service vehicle clocks in at under eight minutes on the Nordschleife. This extraordinary speed enables the rescue unit to get to any part of the legendary race track within no time.
