PARIS, France (March 12, 2018) – Nissan’s painted bumper program is a cornerstone of its innovative vehicle repair solutions, and it now covers more models than ever before.

The scheme has been expanded to incorporate 10 cars, including the Qashqai, Europe’s best-selling crossover, and the Micra compact hatchback. The latest to join is the all-new ‘Simply Amazing’ new Nissan LEAF, which went on sale in Europe last month.

The initiative was first introduced in 2015 to offer an alternative to unpainted front and rear bumpers. Today, painted bumpers are available in 41 different colours and the exclusive offer on Nissan’s latest models.

The ready-to-fit, painted bumpers are an example of Nissan’s innovative approach to repair solutions, driving forward the brand’s aftersales strategy. The scheme perfectly illustrates how the Nissan network provides the best support for insurers to deliver guaranteed high-quality repairs.

The brand’s vehicle repair solutions also include a painted mirror caps program, plus a windscreen repair or replacement service.

While every Nissan model is available with advanced safety technologies for accident avoidance, an estimated 70%* of all collisions across Europe are low-speed bumper-to-bumper impacts which cause only minor damage.

As well as delivering consistent fit and finish of the highest quality, the scheme means vehicle off-the-road time is reduced from an average of 72 hours to just 24. This saves valuable bodyshop hours and increases capacity, while also improving the customer experience.

The scheme enables repairers to benefit from faster access to bumpers out of warehouse stock, precise colour matching, quicker fitting and a factory-quality finish for every repair.

Sustainability has been placed at the heart of the program to help repairers meet their environmental obligations. The bumpers are injection-moulded on site at Nissan’s state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in Sunderland, UK.

This utilises the site’s renewable energy resources, while a shortened painting process reduces material consumption. Shipping from Sunderland to the retailer is carried out using a robust and recyclable cardboard packaging system.

Jean-Christophe Mercier, vice president, aftersales, Nissan Europe, commented: “Extending our innovative repair program is another example of Nissan improving its aftersales offering. This will enhance bodyshop efficiency, minimise insurer costs and improve the customer experience.”

He added: “We want every Nissan on the road to be maintained and to the highest aesthetic and mechanical standards. The pre-painted bumper program is helping us deliver on this commitment. It is enabling bodyshops to repair vehicles to factory-level standards.”
