Nissan to Increase Investment in Indonesia Affiliate

Tokyo -- Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. announced today that it reached agreement to increase its investment stake in its partners, PT Ismac Nissan Manufacturing (INM). Nissan will increase its holding in the company from 35% to 75% and will change INM's name to Nissan Motor Indonesia (NMI). Nissan also announced that it reached agreement for INM to buy trade rights on Nissan vehicles from PT Wahana Wirawan.

INM produced about 6,000 units of Nissan vehicles in 1997 before Asian crisis, and about 1,000 units last year after resuming its production in May 2000. By integrating manufacturing and sales operations, Nissan will continue to improve its profitable growth in Indonesia.

As part of the 3-year Nissan Revival Plan (NRP), launched in October 1999, Nissan is investing globally to build the foundation for lasting profitable growth. Under the plan, Nissan is reallocating resources to invest in core automotive activities worldwide.
