The Nissan Navara sets a new benchmark in the one-tonne pick-up sector, combining the best of Nissan's crossover leadership with more than 80 years of experience in designing and manufacturing robust and cleverly engineered pick-ups.

Improving comfort and refinement while maintaining the Navara's acclaimed off-road ability, durability, loading and towing capacity, was the overriding goal during the new vehicle's development. The model has a robust and tough chassis which introduces a host of new engineering features designed to further improve drivability and practicality.

Using the same crossover DNA that has produced landmark passenger cars such as the class-leading Qashqai and X-Trail, the Navara brings a new level of car-like refinement, style, comfort and quality – as well as first-in-class technologies – to the pick-up market.

Nissan five-year / 160,000 km manufacturer warranty on the Navara is further testament to the vehicle's credentials and the brand’s confidence in them, providing additional peace of mind for customers.

Ride and Handling: exceptional on and off-road

Improving refinement and delivering a crossover-style driving experience was a key element of the Navara's development. To help achieve this without compromising the vehicle's acclaimed off-road ability, Nissan designed an all-new five-link rear suspension system for the Double Cab, providing significantly enhanced ride comfort and improved handling on and off-road. It is also 20kg lighter than the previous leaf spring layout.

The King Cab features a substantially updated version of the leaf spring design fitted to the previous generation model. Not only does the new overslung leaf weigh 7kg less than the previous underslung design, it also gives the King Cab a 3.1 per cent improvement in rear wheel approach angle and delivers a reduction in road noise.

As customers have come to expect, the new Navara is as capable off-road as it is on the tarmac. The ‘shift-on-the-fly’ four-wheel drive system builds on the strengths of the design fitted to the previous generation model, and delivers sure-footed traction over rough terrain. Hill Descent Control (HDC) and Hill Start Assist (HSA) give drivers reassurance when tackling hills, with the electronic locking rear differential making the most of available traction.

Technology

In line with Nissan’s ‘Innovation that Excites’ brand promise, the Navara introduces an array of new customer technology. In a sector that has traditionally been slow to adopt the very latest in comfort and safety features, it sets a new benchmark for affordable in-car technology. Around View Monitor and Forward Emergency Braking – both highly acclaimed features from Nissan’s crossovers – are unique to the Navara in the pick-up market. Further safety and convenience features include cruise control, keyless entry and parking sensors.

Interior

The fully redesigned interior delivers on every level, and has been optimised to provide the best possible quality, comfort, space and practicality for drivers and passengers.

The dashboard has a sculpted appearance that creates increased cabin space and a more open feel. Spinal support front seats offer improved ergonomics and greater alertness, engineered using technology inspired by studies made by NASA.

Further features include the dual-zone digital climate control for both King Cab and Double Cab models, as well as rear cab ventilation to provide a more comfortable travelling environment for passengers in the back of the Double Cab.

Exterior Design

The Navara has been designed and engineered for the specific requirements and preferences of the European market, and is manufactured locally at Nissan’s plant in Barcelona, Spain. The Navara in both its King Cab and Double Cab guises has been designed to deliver a rugged yet sporty overall style, with a mix of convex and concave surfaces providing a dynamic and bold look. Nissan's signature ‘V-motion’ grille and boomerang-shaped LED daytime running lights provide distinctive Nissan design cues.

Engines and Transmission

Both the 160PS single-turbo and 190PS twin-turbo versions of the Navara’s 2.3-litre dCi diesel engine are fitted with an advanced and efficient Euro 6 engine. It has made a significant difference to the pick-up’s environmental performance – a vital consideration for buyers because it affects running costs. CO2 emissions start from as low as 159 g/km, a reduction of 8g/km on the predecessor Euro 5 engine. It’s an enhancement which makes the Nissan Navara the best in its class. Fuel consumption on the Official Combined Cycle has dropped to 6.1 l/100km, down by 0.2 l/100km.

The Nissan Navara Euro 6 benefits from a reduction in oxides of nitrogen (NOx) thanks to the addition of a Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) system. An AdBlue tank has been fitted to the Navara, with a filler flap on the opposite side of the vehicle to the diesel tank to avoid confusion. The AdBlue tank can be filled from bottles or pumps, for maximum flexibility for the user. It will hold 17 litres of liquid, allowing up to 11,500 km between refills. Any driver assistance messages relating to the AdBlue system have been integrated into the Navara’s colour LCD combimeter, the central information screen set between the two main dials.

Payload and Towing

Knowing that pick-up owners need their vehicles to earn their keep, the Navara's load-carrying and towing ability across the range is better than ever. With payload ratings in excess of one tonne across the range and an impressive towing capacity of up to 3,500kg, the Navara is ready for the toughest and most demanding of jobs or leisure pursuits.

The load bed itself is home to further Nissan innovations in the form of the brand's acclaimed C-channel load system. With channels on the rear cabin bulkhead and bed sides, owners have complete flexibility when it comes to securing loads. Because the clamps slide along the C-shaped channel tracks, even the most unusually-shaped cargo can be safely secured with ease.

To help owners go further with more, the new Double Cab's load bed is 67mm longer than the previous model, with a sector-best load bed length of 1,578mm. The King Cab's load bed measures 1,788mm in length.

Robert Lujan, LCV Director, Nissan Europe commented, “Since we built our first pick-up in 1935, more than 14 million customers in 180 countries around the globe have come to depend on Nissan pick-ups to transport their families, colleagues and cargo, sometimes in the toughest of circumstances.”

He continued: “Nissan pick-ups have often been the lifeblood of their communities and a trusted work partner to businesses and tradespeople. Now in its 12th generation, we've harnessed this experience and our customer feedback to develop the new Nissan Navara which sets a new benchmark for performance, refinement, convenience and running costs in the sector.”

The Nissan Navara, with its impressive array of performance, safety, technology, comfort and convenience features, and coupled with efficient running costs, is the ideal partner for work and leisure. The range features up to five trim grades depending on the market, with all offering outstanding levels of equipment. All models come with seven airbags, electronic braking differential, off-road electronic.
