PROFESSIONAL AND ACADEMIC BACKGROUND
Alan Johnson is the Senior Vice President for Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Purchasing for Nissan's Africa, Middle East, India, Europe and Oceania (AMIEO) region. His responsibilities include overseeing manufacturing operations across the region's plants in the UK, Europe, India, and Africa, as well as managing integration with marketing, sales, and finance functions. With over 30 years of experience at Nissan, Alan brings deep expertise in production engineering and plant management.
Alan began his career at Nissan's Sunderland Plant (NMUK) in 1991 as a Graduate Engineer in Trim and Chassis. His career has since taken him across the globe, with assignments in Spain, Russia, and France. During his tenure, he has held pivotal roles such as General Manager of Quality Assurance Engineering, Monozukuri Leader in Russia, and Vice President of Nissan's Spanish Industrial Operations. In May 2020, Alan returned to the UK to take up the role of Vice President of Manufacturing at NMUK. In April 2023, he was promoted to Senior Vice President for Manufacturing and Supply Chain Management for the AMIEO region and assumed responsibility for Purchasing as well in 2024.
Notable Achievements:
- Successfully launched new models for production including the Nissan JUKE and Qashqai
- Played a key role in the launching EV36Zero, Nissan's blueprint for future manufacturing which brings together electric vehicle production powered by renewables
