NISSAN & PROXLL DEVELOP HOME CHARGE PACKAGE FOR 100% ELECTRIC NISSAN LEAF IN NORWAY

OSLO (Aug. 19, 2011)-A home charging package has been created for Nissan LEAF owners in Norway to ensure they can recharge their 100% electric car as efficiently and safely as possible. The system has been developed in partnership with Proxll AS, Nissan's certified Electric Mobility Operator (EMO), a few weeks ahead of the first Nissan LEAF deliveries in Norway.

The dedicated charging point - complying with all current legislation and certified by Nissan - will achieve a full charge at 16 amps in less than eight hours. The charging point will be available at any Nissan EV dealer for 16,499 NOK, including installation and VAT. Customers can also sign up for a flexible finance scheme giving them access to the charging point from as little as 499 NOK per month, excluding the cost of installation.

A welcome pack from Elbil, Norway's EV Owners' Association, will be delivered with the award-winning Nissan LEAF and includes a key to access more than 2,000 public charging points across the country, plus green certificates that guarantees CO2-free operation of the EV for 10,000 km.

"This convenient electro-mobility solution represents an important step in launching Nissan LEAF in Norway. Thanks to the comprehensive offer jointly developed with Proxll AS, Nissan LEAF owners can enjoy the same freedom as owners of a conventional car. Norway also offers many other benefits to EV owners, including free parking," said Guillaume Cartier, Managing Director, Nissan Nordic Europe Oy.

Order books for the reigning European and World Car of the Year open in September at selected Nissan EV dealers. The names of the individual dealers will be announced shortly. Nissan LEAF will retail for 255,000 NOK, including the battery which benefits from a five-year/100,000 km warranty. Nissan LEAF is exempt from non-recurring vehicle tax and VAT. The five-seater family hatchback comes fully equipped with air conditioning, satellite navigation, rear-view parking camera, a quick charge socket and innovative smart-phone connectivity that will allow users to heat or cool the interior of the car remotely via a mobile phone allowing for better range management.

The car also comes equipped with the following items for the Nordic climate:

  • heated front seats
  • heated rear seats
  • heated mirrors
  • heated steering wheel
  • battery heating system

Nissan LEAF recently received a top, five-star safety rating from the European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP), making it one of the safest cars on the road in Europe.
